Sarah Spackman

“I want an actual present atmosphere in my paintings and the object is only the starting point.

Painting for me is a process of engagement with the object, trying to make real to others my deep feelings about the things I care for and am emotionally involved with.

In trying to capture the essence of what I am looking at, I am as concerned with the air surrounding the subject as with the subject itself. Through observation and perception, I try to register the feeling that I want the painting to evoke.”

A number of paintings by Sarah Spackman have been selected for the contemporary art collection of The Allied Irish Bank. Her work is also included in many private collections and she has painted to commission for a number of clients.
