December's art calendar is marked by the Florence Art Biennale - an official partner in the UN program ‘Dialogue Between Civilizations', and takes place from December 1-9, 2007 in the exhibition area of the Fortezza de Basso, Florence, Italy. This year's edition will include, as honoured guests, the acclaimed artists Gilbert & George and Tim Marlow of the White Cube Gallery, London. Gilbert & George will be awarded the Lorenzo il Magnifico Prize. The legendary masters will meet with the Biennale artists.
Luba is one of the artists invited to participate in the Sixth edition of the Florence Biennale. With work exhibited and collected in the USA, Europe and Asia, Russian-born Luba has established an international presence for her distinctive images. Her art reflects her cosmopolitan background, incorporating the East’s alluring, vibrant colours, and the forms and patterns of the West. Her solo show Sensual Images at West-Eleven in 2005, attracted public attention due to her unusual compositions, full of sensual energy, that demand attention and hold the viewer in thrall. The Indian art critic, Keshav Malik, called Luba’s art ‘A juicy genre, as rich as Keats, the poet’s fruity poems.’
Her work has been featured in numerous magazines, art books and art periodicals and continues to remain highly sought-after.
