Kathy Prest Kathy Prest has recently been awarded 'Best Visual Artist' at the Art of Love Exhibition, Oxo Tower, London, and the Solomon & Whitehead Award for 'Best Figurative Exhibit' at the Society of Women Artists' exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London. She has also been offered full membership at the SWA. ‘After studying ballet and contemporary dance, I became increasingly interested in the movement of the human body, and this, combined with extensive research, gave me the understanding of anatomy. I have always enjoyed life drawing and my intuitive feel for the movement of the body and the experience gained from this medium, inspired me to move into the third dimension. I am self-taught, and through my sculpture try to reach the minds and hearts of fellow human beings - reminding them of the inner joy of life, by freezing quiet meditative moments and transforming them into sensual and tactile sculptures. I believe there is no better way to train the sculptor’s eye than traditional classical study of the nude model. With this essential knowledge in hand, the figure can then be confidently created and abstracted to an individual style – My work has historically been more representative, but a recent development is a move to the abstract'.
