"I was born and brought up in India and now live in England. India is a country full of warm vibrant colours which can be found in its textiles, food, rangoli patterns, the festival of colour called ‘Holi’ and also in the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. I have always been passionate about paintings and colour plays an important role in my life, which can be seen in my paintings.

After coming to England I was intrigued by the landscape of the British Isles. I do not produce an accurate representation but aim to evoke a sense of personal experience, to create an image which brings together different aspects of the landscape, making it a picture derived from my experience in a particular place. For my abstract paintings, I work from my memory trying to recreate the feelings and the mood that the depicted landscape signifies to me. I spend much of my time exploring the countryside and frequently visit the Peak District of Derbyshire. The hills and dales, woods, lakes, flowers, forests and the vast open fields of the landscapes are all my source of inspiration for my paintings, which results in these individual and unique landscapes.

I work mainly in my studio, but I develop ideas by taking photographs and drawing in a sketchbook outside in the field. I like to use acrylic and oil paint depending on the subject and effect I wish to create. Through repeated visits to areas of specific interest and then making the artworks about them, I have become more fascinated and inspired by their natural beauty."
